more articles later
on about our local
wineries and
some other
interesting tours,
we plan on offering

local and off-beat
venues, so be sure
to check us every
month. And remember
- we respect your
privacy, we will not
sell or give-away
your email address
to others for any
reason, ever. There
is an opt-out link
on the bottom of the

Tail of the Dragon
This
wild and scenic stretch
of Hwy 129 is located on
the SW border of the
Great Smokey Mountains
National Park. An 11
mile portion of the
highway consisting of
318 curves has forever
emblazoned itself on the
minds of motorcycle and
sports car enthusiasts
around the world. Known
for years by locals as
the "Gap", a Dallas
Texas motorcycle racer
took one run on the road
in the early
90's and sparked the excitment
in this unique strectch
of road that we see
today. With the
increased interest and
traffic, the speed limit
has been dropped to
30mph and there is more
police presence - but
the run is still very
popular with bikers and
sports car enthusiasts.
Alcoa uses the western
side of the highway as a
watershed for it's dams
and power generation,
the Smokey Mtn Nat'l
Park is on the east side
- all this guarantees
unspoiled beauty for
years to come.
It
gets better! - there are
several great motoring
highways near-by - try
the the Cherohala
Skyway, runs between
Robbinsville, NC and
Tellico Plains, TN,
another spectacular
cruise. All of this can
be looped into an easy
day of motoring!

Look for Zee around the
next bend and wave! She
photographs all the
traffic then posts the
photos on her website
where you can purchase
them for a few bucks -
how cool is that?
